I help businesses to professionally deliver their messages to customers. It’s all based on the fact that design adds value. I’ve found a balance between tech and design, that’s why I kickass!
Vita comes from tiny little country called Latvia. Her passion for art was obvious at a young age when her mother, tired from cleaning the creative marks off the wallpapers, enrolled her in art school. When asked “What do you want to be when you grow-up?”, her answer has always been – an artist. That 6 year old girl has since grown up trying to make this dream come true.
After finishing Advertising Design degree course back in Latvia - Vita moved to London to continue her passion. During her university years she has worked as freelance graphic/web designer for brands like Barclays, Google, RBS, Starbucks and others, exploring wide range of media.
Graduation from London College of Communication - Interaction and Moving image, has pushed her into a different way of thinking, compared to most graphic designers. Working on video, photography, web and interactive installations have opened her mind to the future design and interaction. Recently she has been nominated for the D&AD New Blood award.
Like Cabinets of Curiosities were small collections of extraordinary objects which attempted to categorise and tell stories about the wonders and oddities of the natural world - this little section is about works and sketches I have done and collected over the time
Is a project done in University of Arts London – just a little memory of people during uni years.
I created a book where you can mix and match people face features. Almost like making a different person. People on University helps so much each other, giving advice and helping hand that at the end of the project it is almost like a project of everyone’s ideas.
So with this book I tried to show the feeling of helping hand and how we all mix together and create new identities!
A very short story is a project about making your very own short story using just 6 words.
The project is made of series of 6 photographs - each spelling a word out of a sentence “There is a beach underneath the highway”. The quote comes from France revolution when people where taking stones from the road and underneath the stones there were sand.
I made six stencils and a black box like a darkroom with a whole where you project light; in this case I used Speedlight.
About bikes is a visual scale depicting the distribution of common types of bikes around the north/east london area.
Firstly wanted to classify bike types by area, age and fashion. How to do it, where to get the data?
After walking and doting map (with an actual maps and 4 different colour markers) in Finsbury Park, Islington, Dalston, Shoredtich and LiverpoolStreet. Five bike classifications (Multi-gear, Single- speed, Utility, Boris and Folding bicycles) were displayed using coloured markers overlaid on a map, to show both the percentage distribution and area distribution.
My love for GIF is indescribable - so I decided to play around with some Cinemagraphs. Making little, cute gif images from short videos.
Vinesript is a website where you can write your own short movie. How it works?
For every vine video people add #hastags, to tag their video with certain words.. like if you film a child eating flower you would tag your video with words #child #eating #flowers so hastags are kinda a video description.
Everyone who posts the video on twitter gets into twitter API and is recognized by their hastags.
So if you write a sentence like “Flowers are beautiful” you will get 3 different videos that would have been hastaged:
Booklet - Combining two subjects in one, what makes it interesting. We had to write and essay about an artifact in CTS (Theoretical Studies) and then create a booklet with essay and pictures in it. I wrote and essay about photographer Ryan McGinley. A photographer who thinks opposite, who lives hippy life, creating his own little world - a playful “Eden”, where naked body is as free as nature.
I made a square pocket sizes booklet, what is not just easy to carry but is interactive for people to open it. I choose to put some squares and triangles inside the booklet as well to make the background more colourful and engaged with the picture side. I discovered that without planning you cant make it to work, you have to think about material thickness and about colours.
The project was to make 60second movie where the topic of the movie was picked out of
a hat. We were “lucky” to pick out the most “amazing” theme – Musical.
Slogan of my life is – Think Opposite! It comes from a little and really useful book by Paul Arden “Whatever you think, think the opposite!” the most useful 10minutes what you can spend from your life reading this great book!
Instead of professional actors we choose people from the street, instead of stage we choose street, giving them back dancers and big audience. Perfect! Now just had to think about song what can make our movie as a real musical, there are more then a million musical songs but the post popular seemed Abba or Mamma Mia in this case song “Dancing Queen”. Can’t imagine better place then in front of Prince of Wales theatre to pick up biggest and most passionate Abba fans.
Typography. Everything you touch, see and create is impacted by the use of writing styles and techniques.
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but you have to know a thousand words to replace it.
Typography is the art and process of arranging type for a variety of media purposes and is made up of several parts. You can make up a word from whatever what you see, plants? Why not! Page Markers? Perfect! Just make it big! To make something big takes time, but its so much more what you can do if you expand your working area.
“A man’s alter ego is nothing more than his favorite image of himself”
Avatar was a project to create your own Avatar. I imagined avatar which everyone have – the little evil thing inside you.. the one who makes you do the bad things, eat the bad sugars and say the bad things.
I created it black and unrecognizable.
